I created this page to inform you of my communication preferences and to answer frequently asked questions. Additionally, this page enables me to reserve energy to engage in cognitive effort and interpersonal connection during office hours.

I prioritize verbal communication and prefer to meet during office hours. Therefore, when you text or email me, my response will be brief: one word or an emoji. If you want more of a response from me, please schedule during my office hours.

- If this is an urgent matter, please send me a text starting with the word "Urgent" or an email with "Urgent" in the heading and I will prioritize responding to you.
- If you are in a course with a TA, please also email Teaching Assistant Faith Watkins at fwatkin2@msudenver.edu.

Office Hours
Office hours are by appointment. Use the 30-minute meeting for shorter conversations (we can use as little or as much time as needed) and the 50-minute meeting for longer conversations.

I need to add/drop/withdraw from a course.

I need an extension on an assignment.
Please read through "Late Days Policy" in Canvas course > Modules > Course Information > Grading and Assignment Expectations.
I want to make up a missed class.
Please read through "Make-up Assignment" in Canvas course > Assignments > Make-up Assignment.
I want to discuss my grade on an assignment.
Please take some time (at least a week) to reflect on the grade you received, the influence of academic socialization, why challenging the grade matters to you, and then schedule during my office hours. Be prepared to share your responses to those questions.
I have a classroom concern.

Can you provide a letter of recommendation or reference for me?
For students who have been in at least two of my courses and we have met during office hours during those courses, please schedule during my office hours so we can talk about it.
If you've not been in at least two of my courses or did not meet with me during the courses: no, I cannot provide a reference because I don't know you well enough to provide a strong enough reference.
Beginning of semester
Do we have a textbook? Please visit the bookstore.
Can I see the syllabus? The syllabus will be available once the Canvas container is ready. You will receive an announcement from me when it's ready. Consider having announcements sent to your inbox by following these instructions.
I don't understand something about the course: I will be providing several video lectures answering most of your questions during Week 1. Please wait until after viewing to ask.
